"Left Turn Away" was written in about 20 minutes. It struck me like a hammer to the head. At the time, my life was pretty turbulent. I was couch surfing, living out of my car, had just quit my job, and was preparing to move to Australia.

During that period of transition, I felt completely open to whatever came next. The song seemed to write itself, as though I was simply a conduit receiving the words and music as they arrived.

The story of "Left Turn Away" draws heavily from the immense changes I was experiencing, alongside a carefree summer filled with newfound freedom. There's a sense of lightness and sarcasm woven through situations that are, at their core, quite heavy. Experiences that most people have faced or will face at some point in their lives.

At its heart, the song is about how quickly life can change. No matter where you are, you're always one unexpected left turn away from a completely different future. For better or worse, change is the only constant.
